Introductions

Thank you for visiting our Speech and Language blog. My name is Nicola Blundell and I am a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist who works at Riverside Primary School three days per week (Monday, Tuesday & Thursday). I am employed directly by the school and am not part of the Community Speech and Language Therapy service. I am very lucky to be supported by two Special Needs Speech and Language teaching assistants, Mrs. Ide and Miss Banks. On this site you will find ideas for how to help your child develop their speech and language skills. I hope you find the ideas helpful.

We can work with children who need help with various things, some of which include;
       ·         Saying their speech sounds right
·         Understanding instructions
·        Learning and remembering new words
·        Attention and listening
·        Putting pictures into groups e.g. apples and crisps are types of food.
·        Stammering
We see children on their own, in small groups or sometimes I work with the whole class. I tell the classroom staff what we are working on so they can continue to practice what we are working on in the classroom. Sessions and programmes of work are always individualised to your child’s needs.

If you would like to speak to me about your child, please make an appointment through their class teacher. Thank you!
